git-core software package provides fast, scalable, distributed revision control system (obsolete), you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install git-core
git-core is installed in your system.
Make ensure the git-core package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep git-core *
You will get with git-core package name, version, architecture and description in a table
